About
Koen Vanmechelen is a Belgian artist who works with diverse media including painting, drawing, photography, video, installations and glasswork. The link between these different media is the theme of chicken and egg. But nothing is what it seems. The core of the project is neither the chicken nor the egg, but cross-breeding and the diversity that comes from it. Therefore, the project enables Vanmechelen to connect scientific, political, philosophical and ethical issues. The intrinsic philosophical system he thus developed is often the subject of debates, discussions and lectures by or about the artist. Only last year the artist spoke at the TEDxFlanders conference andbefore that he was invited by among others The World Economic Forum in Davos, the Climat Change Congress in Copenhagen and various museumsand universities.
