The present invention refers to a so-called “light-jacket” allowing fully portable photo-therapy for children suffering from Crigler-Najjar disease. It forms an ideal alternative solution to the present treatment whereby cumbersome installations are being used.
About
Born in Antwerp Joseph d’Haens is now living near his laboratory in the neighbourhood of the city of Lier. He is holding several university degrees and as a PhD he specialized in opto-electronics. He received many awards in Belgium and abroad and in 1993 he became honorary citizen of Antwerp.
Besides being president and managing director of several companies he retired recently as professor at the high-school for industrial engineering and as commercial judge at the court of commerce in Antwerp.
He is holding many patents and is responsible for a number of remarkable developments in biomedical engineering.
In 2009 he has been accredited by the Guinness Book of World Records for developing worlds smallest electric motor.
