Accelerating your healthcare start-up

Are you ready to take your healthcare start-up to the next level? This program will help you get there. In this intensive, hands-on boot camp, you’ll explore business model design methodologies. You’ll have your ideas and business plan challenged by world-class industry, health and finance professionals. And you’ll develop the skills and confidence you need to pitch your idea to potential investors.

Why this program?

You’ve been actively working on an idea that could change the future of the health industry. Now it’s time to incubate it. It’s time to test critical assumptions, get expert feedback – and create an investor-ready plan. In an intensive, action learning, team-based boot camp, you’ll design your business model, challenge your thinking – and identify the best sources of funding for your venture.

Throughout your journey you’ll get expert support and insight both from faculty and our industry partners –Johnson & Johnson and UCB – who co-fund and support this program. When you successfully complete the program, you’ll gain a certificate.

This program is a partnership between the Health Sciences & Business Institute of KU Leuven and Vlerick Business School and Imperial College London.

For whom?

This program is designed for entrepreneurs, start-ups (who are in their first year) or individuals who are ready to turn their health ideas into a business.

We’re looking for ideas with potential – and people with the ability to take them to the next level. To apply, please send us an introduction to your idea in the medium of your choosing, answering the questions:

  • What challenge are you solving for your customers?
  • What makes your idea stand out?
  • What have you achieved so far?
  • What do you need to be successful?
  • Why is your idea worth investing in?

All information provided will be treated confidentially. If you’re selected for this program, you’ll need to sign an NDA agreement. This is a contract through which the parties agree not to disclose non-public business information and through which confidential information of either parties is protected.

The boot camp consists of two stages and takes place in two locations – London and Brussels. Throughout the boot camp, you’ll explore frameworks and concepts and apply them to your idea.  As you build your business plan, world-class industry experts and academics will challenge it – helping you turn it into a robust, commercial offer.

The boot camp includes three content blocks:

  • Value Creation in Health Markets
  • Value Capture
  • Value Delivery

After each block, you’ll have the opportunity to refine your idea with the help of coaches and experts. You’ll also present your idea to your fellow participants and get valuable feedback.

Week one: London
In this first week you’ll focus on problem solving. You’ll assess the full potential impact of your technology or idea and how it creates better and healthier lives. And you’ll work on your pitching skills by testing yourself in the Imperial College Impact LabTM.

Week two: Brussels
The second week of the boot camp takes place in Brussels with a.o. a visit to Health HouseTM. This inspirational setting is the ideal place to explore cutting-edge health technology enterprise and its ecosystems.

At the end of the boot camp, you’ll pitch your final idea in front of a Dragon’s Den style jury of venture capitalists, business school professors and health sector experts.
