BUMP Festival 2018
Get inspired by international top-talent at BUMP Festival in Kortrijk, powered by Devine Howest. On Friday June 22, this festival will challenge you with talks about design, motion graphics, creative coding and technological innovation. Headliners are Kate Dawkins (UK), Hayley Hughes (US), Slimjim Studios (US), Gene Kohan (DE).
Designregio Kortrijk will organize ‘WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION’ talks at BUMP, where promising young designers graduated from notable international schools, give a lecture or workshop on their research. - Frank Kolkman
is an experimental designer whose latest projects include: an Out-of-body experience simulator, a Domestic drug screening kit, a DIY Surgical Robot and proposals for a Humane Caviar Extraction Super Yacht & a Synthetic Rhino Horn Growing Device.
- Alexandre Humbert
was trained as a product designer (Design Academy Eindhoven) and gradually developed a fascination for, and expertise as filmmaker. He currently focusses on Filmmaking as a design practice. “As designers we are storytellers, we are not designing chairs but ways of sitting.”
- Tomo Kihara
is a Japanes designer en has developed a tool for “street debating”, which allows homeless people to earn money without compromising their dignity.
- Kate Dawkins
is an award winning designer, creative director and founder of Kate Dawkins Studio. A studio specialising in creating and delivering bespoke content for spectacular live performances, shows and brand events, working across both projection and LED, indoor and outdoor.
- Hayley Hughes
is a Design Lead for IBM’s Design Language. Her work is showcased on IBM’s “26 Innovations by 26 Innovative Women” and she is a certified IBM Design Thinking Leader. When she’s not focused on the language, Hayley works with IBM’s Executive Women’s Council to create awareness of unconscious bias and its impact on business.
- Gene Kogan
is an artist and a programmer who is interested in generative systems, computer science, and software for creativity and self-expression.
- James Curran (Slim Jim)
is a British animator and director with a background in videos games, music videos, commercials and animated GIFs.
- Pamela Pavliscak
is founder of Change Sciences, a future insights firm that works with Google, IKEA, Virgin and a plethora of visionary organizations. She’s faculty at Pratt Institute where she teaches the next generation of designers.
- Nicolas Sassoon
uses early computer imaging techniques to render a wide array of forms and figures, encoded visually with pixelated patterns and animation.
